Across a deep black and charcoal ground, metallic silver glaze bursts outward in long, feathered streams. The pattern radiates from the basin and continues up the walls before spilling over the exterior, creating the appearance of an explosion, a flower opening, or light breaking through a dark sky. Depending upon the lighting and viewing angle, the glaze also reveals shifting tones of bronze, blue, green, gold, and subtle violet.
Several thick glaze runs gathered and hardened near the bottom during firing, forming natural kiln tears around the exposed brown clay and raised foot.
