Dark and understated in ordinary light, this handcrafted tea bowl reveals an extraordinary spectrum of color when illuminated.
Its deep brown-black glaze opens into a large radiating flower pattern formed by metallic bronze and antique-gold cells. Fine pale lines branch through each formation like veins in a petal or delicate lightning across the surface. The petals surround a dark central pool scattered with tiny metallic oil-drop markings.
As the bowl is turned beneath brighter light, its restrained bronze surface transforms. Brilliant flashes of gold, pink, magenta, violet, electric blue, turquoise, and green travel across the glaze, giving the bowl an almost holographic appearance. A warm brown rim frames the interior, while the exterior remains darker with subtle bronze and iridescent highlights.
The shifting colors and naturally formed cellular pattern ensure that the bowl appears different from every angle and under every lighting condition.
