Warm earth tones, a brilliant golden center, and dramatic glaze movement give this handcrafted tea bowl an unmistakably fiery character.
Its rounded form is covered in a rich partridge-feather glaze of chestnut brown, rust, burnt orange, and black. Inside, elongated feather-like markings radiate inward toward a vivid golden-yellow formation at the center. Dark branching lines divide the rounded cells, making the center resemble a glowing heart, sunflower, or pool of molten gold.
The same feathered pattern continues across the exterior, where the warmer rust-colored glaze contrasts with dark streaks created as the glaze moved during firing.
Near the exposed clay foot, the flowing glaze collected into several thick golden-and-black runs. These naturally formed kiln tears extend below the main glaze line and give the bottom an especially dramatic, almost molten appearance. They are permanent firing features rather than damage or applied decoration.
